Home | FAIR Mediation Model

Welcome to the FAIR mediation Model™. This model has been designed specifically for use in complex workplace, business and consumer disputes.

The FAIR mediation Model™ is in use in organisations across the UK and is the chosen model for numerous mediators and consultants. Recently, the UN has chosen it as their preferred mediation model for use within their organisation - a major vote of confidence.

Facilitate: to make easier. At TCM, we are skilled at helping to build bridges and restore dialogue at times of conflict. Dialogue between employees; within teams; with your suppliers and with your customers.

We help to make difficult conversations easier - we bring people together, we give them time to talk and we create the conditions for a positive, constructive resolution to be found.

Resolve: determination, a solution. Mediation can be tough, but the prize for those who have the courage and resolve to embark on the process can be quite incredible. TCM mediators are gifted negotiators drawing on many approaches and disciplines – predominantly, those of principled negotiation.

Mediation resolutions are sustainable because they are designed and agreed by the parties - unlike in other justice processes where they are prescribed by a third party. Constructive and mutually acceptable solutions can come surprisingly easily when we work together to find them.

Empathy: the power of understanding. As mediators, we don’t judge who is right or wrong, we don’t allocate blame nor do we seek punitive outcomes. Instead, we encourage the parties to listen to each other – to really hear what is being said. We connect people at times of conflict and in doing so, we encourage openness and honesty.

The understanding of each other’s needs, goals and interests flows from this powerful exchange. By appreciating each other as people, as fellow human beings, mediators can forge real, meaningful change.

Innovate: to make something new. In most conflicts, creativity can be more about defending and attacking; hurting and blaming, rather than finding creative solutions and remedies.

During the FAIR mediation process, the mediators help the parties to generate solutions that enable their mutual needs and interests to be met. The mediator works with the parties to transform negative and toxic conflict into a new consensus. A consensus that offers workable outcomes and choices.

We resolve 93% of all cases in just one day
