Launch of The Professional Mediators Association (PMA)
David Liddle first established the PMA as a network of professional workplace mediators in 2004. Since that time, the PMA has grown and evolved and now has over 150 members from the areas of workplace, employment, business, civil and commercial mediation. The official launch of the Professional Mediators Association (PMA) was 27 September 2007 at the UK Mediation Academy.

- Barry Winbolt, a prominent mediator and psychotherapist on why UK mediators need a professional association.

Why set up a Professional Association for Mediators?
One of the comments that TCM regularly receive during our courses is that newly accredited mediators would like the chance to network with other accredited mediators and to receive a comprehensive and professional level of ongoing support and development from TCM.In response to this feedback, TCM has today launched the PMA. On the occasion of its launch, David Liddle, Founder and Director of TCM said:
"At TCM, we are committed to offering the very highest standards in training and post-training support. The PMA is the first and only professional body of its kind in the UK and will be responsible for ensuring that all TCM accredited mediators have access to a comprehensive support network and can demonstrate their ongoing commitment to TCM's exacting practice standards"
The PMA will provide the following services to all accredited workplace mediators across the UK:
- Develop a network of professional mediators and dispute resolution practitioners across the UK, with the PMA acting as a hub.
- An online forum and repository of resources and materials.
- Access to Professional Development events and programmes at the UK Mediation Academy.
- PMA members will be provided with opportunities to shadow and work with other experienced and accredited mediators.
- TCM will draw its panel of mediators from PMA members.

Mediation nipped a potentially politically explosive situation in the bud. White police Inappropiate action vs a citizens civil rights- on their own property possible racial overtones potential for widespresd community conflict on race lines & potential loss of life. Confidence in state Institutions office of the president. It shows how mediation works in a three way tie -up. Enough said?
