The Independent newspaper publishes an article on mediation featuring The TCM Group
by Panos Papakostis | 17th Jan 2012

On Monday 16th of January 2012 the Independent,
one of the most respected newspapers in the UK
published a ground breaking article about the
upcoming trend of mediation.

The article focuses on mediation and its potential to revolutionise the British legal system and further notices that in a time of economic stagnation and government penny-pinching, it is one of the few professions that is actually rapidly expanding.

As mediation evolves into a star player amongst the dispute resolution options that UK companies have at their disposal, it is no surprise that The TCM Group is often asked to comment on articles and news stories, as a leading mediation services and training provider.

Mr. David Liddle, mediation expert with more than 20 years of experience in the dispute resolution industry, and one of our most experienced dispute resolution advisors Mr. Steve Dickens were delighted to answer David Cooper’s questions (editorial assistant at the Independent) about mediation, its value and the underlying reasons for the grievance process being gradually replaced by mediation.

David Liddle, president of the Professional Mediators' Association provided an electrifying comment:

Organisations have been reliant for 30 or 40 years on grievance processes which put people into pitched battles – they're adversarial, they have negative outcomes that create stress, and they leave one or both parties feeling bruised or battered – and in the worst cases, going to court. Now there's a wide recognition among business leaders that the old approach has failed systematically. Mediation is a different way of solving our differences – talking, engaging and listening to one another.
