Why Mediate?
Mediation is proving to be a highly effective remedy for workplace conflicts and disputes.

Our track record

Last year, the team at TCM increased our mediation success rate to over 93%*. This is an unprecedented success rate in mediation and is due to the commitment that we have at all stages of the process.

A quality service

We take the quality of our mediation activities very seriously and we firmly believe that mediation begins from the minute that you contact us and continues way beyond the parties reaching that all important resolution.
* our success rate is based on the parties achieving a signed agreement by the end of mediation.

Why mediate?

Mediation has many benefits - not just for the parties but for their teams, managers and employers:
  1. Mediation places responsibility for the resolution of a dispute directly with the parties.
  2. Mediation creates a safe place for all sides to have their say and to be heard.
  3. Mediation stops disputes escalating out of control.
  4. Mediation reduces the stress and anxiety commonly associated with  conflict.
  5. Mediation reduces the cost of conflict and reduces the risk of litigation.
  6. Mediation contributes to a more harmonious and productive working environment.
  7. MEDIATION WORKS!

Employment Act 2008

Following the Gibbons Review (2007), the Employment Act 2008 signifies a more flexible system for resolving workplace disputes.

An enhanced role for mediation and early resolution

For many years, TCM has been advocating an increased role or mediation as an alternative to time consuming and stressful grievance procedures and Employment Tribunals. We are delighted that mediation will now be taking a more prominent role in UK workplaces. The new system will emphasise the importance of early dispute resolution, for example through workplace mediation. Employers will be asked to offer informal dispute resolution mechanisms either through the provision of external or internal mediation.

The proposed benefits of the revised system will be that they are simpler and less prescriptive and that they offer greater flexibility to informally resolve conflicts at work. Our hope is that this will result in cost and time savings and that it will also reduce the stress of going through an Employment Tribunal.
