Tackling Bullying And Harassment at Work - in-house course

Put an end to inappropriate behaviour at work .

Everyone should be treated with dignity and respect at work. Bullying and harassment of any kind are in no-one's interest and should not be tolerated in the workplace.

This is the opening statement of the ACAS' guide for managers and employees on bullying and harassment at work.

However, bullying and harassment can be hard to identify and even harder to stop. This course provides practical, tried and tested approaches to help you put an end to inappropriate behaviour at work.

Bullying is persistent unwelcome behaviour, mostly using unwarranted or invalid criticism, nit-picking, fault-finding, also exclusion, isolation, being singled out and treated differently, being shouted at, humiliated, excessive monitoring, having verbal and written warnings imposed, and much more. In the workplace, bullying usually focuses on distorted or fabricated allegations of under-performance.

Bullying and harassment are a significant risk to health and the well-being of your staff. The risk is not only to individual employees, but also to the employer. The liability of employers for bullied employees is extended under the doctrine of vicarious liability if bullying takes place in the course of employment. If an employee is bullied by either fellow employees and/or management, while performing their contract of employment, the employer will be liable for the bully's actions. This course will ensure that all staff are exceeding the standards of behaviour that are now expected.
