PMA Master Class - 13th April: Non-Violent Communication (NVC)

This introductory workshop is to help mediation practitioners get underneath the four aspects of NVC and discover how each of these elements supports constructive communication. From this understanding we will explore how NVC can support a number of situations from increased self-awareness to resolving conflicts, from good management to being assertive.
We will look at how to effectively help others (and ourselves) to:
- Distinguish observations from evaluations
- Understand, name and own strong feelings
- Get to and identify human needs without blaming or judging
- Make specific and positive requests
As well as exploring the benefits and applications of NVC, we will also look at its potential limitations and common pitfalls and explore how these can be used to guide the effective use of NVC.
This workshop will most benefit all trained mediators, whatever your level of experience in the field. It is a practical and experiential course which aims to challenge and inspire, and to equip delegates with new knowledge and tools to apply in diverse situations both at home and work. As well as enhancing your mediation practice, it aims to better equip you to deal with conflicts you face in your own lives.
